Hilltop Filet With Chocolate Sauce

Hilltop Filet With Chocolate Sauce

Believe it or not, a delicious filet with chocolate sauce is AMAZING!! Dark chocolate enhances the flavor of beef.

Want to surprise your honey with something special. Whip this up for them on Valentine's day.

Ingredients:

  • 10-12 oz Hilltop Filet Mignon
  • 1 tsp Olive Oil
  • 1 oz. Dark Chocolate
  • 1/4 cup Beef Bone Broth (AliMade is the best!)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Shallot minced (can be made without)
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Water
  • Hilltop Salt & Pepper Rub

Season your steak on both sides of the filet with Hilltop salt & pepper rub. About 1-2 tsp per side. Set aside and let it sit at room temperature for about 15-30 min. This allows the filet to warm up and cook more evenly while allowing the salt to draw enhance the flavor.

Next heat up your grill or oven to broil. Cook the steaks to your preferred temperature:

  • 130-140 degrees for medium rare
  • 140-150 for medium
  • 160-170 for well done

After cooked to your desired temperature this next step is SO important! Remove your filet from the heat and wrap in foil. Let it sit for at least 15-20 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the steak.

To Prepare the Chocolate Sauce:

Whisk together the cornstarch & water in a small bowl. Set aside. Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. If using shallots add in and cook until tender. Add in the beef stock & Worcestershire sauce brining it to a simmer. Then whisk in the cornstarch & water for 1-2 minutes until the sauce begins to thicken. Once the liquid is thickened remove from heat & add chocolate. Continue to whisk or stir until smooth. Add salt to taste.

Lastly, unwrap the filet and place on a plate. Drizzle chocolate sauce over the filet & serve immediately.

Enjoy!
